Why is Chanda Kochar an inspiration for all ?

Are you someone who wants to make a lasting impact ? Are you someone who wants people to remember you, remember the essence of you ? If you are reading this your answer is obviously Yes! We love to follow our ideals. For me Chanda Kochar is one of my living inspirations. I have immense admiration for Ms. Chanda Kochar MD and CEO of ICICI Bank.

I am not a Finance student nor do I intend to make a career in finance or banking. But I have been following updates on ICICI bank and Chanda Kochar from last 3 years. I have watched every interview of Kocchar on YouTube. Finally last week I got a golden opportunity to meet Chanda Kochar at We The Women Forum. I was overwhelmed by her presence. It was a dream come true. I never thought I would meet her so soon.

Chanda Kochhar is the Managing Director and Chief Operational Officer of ICICI Bank, India’s largest private bank. She also heads the corporate sector of ICICI Bank. She started as a management trainee in 1984 in ICICI and her growth never took an about turn since then. Her diligence helped her to rise through ranks in ICICI quite exponentially. From being an Assistant General Manager in 1994, she went on to become the Deputy General Manager in 1996 and then the General Manager of ICICI bank in 1998. In 2007, she was made the Joint Managing Director and CFO of ICICI. She was also a member of Prime Minister’s Council on Trade and Industry.

I heard her comments at We the Women when she spoke about her journey and the way she viwed her career. It was not only inspiring and motivating but very mindful. Whenever she speaks one can take notes.

I am fascinated by Chanda Kochar. To my mind she is She is someone that everyone can drive motivation from. She is an epitome of a CEO with a courage, heart and ocean of knowledge. She is an exemplary Administrator and something I love the most about her is she has always maintained her equanimity whenever faced by adversities.

I remember whenever I felt demotivated I have always watched her interviews. As a Humanities student many times I would not understand but I would still watch her interviews. I have tried to follow all her teachings conveyed in the interviews. Last week when I met her it was Certainly a #FanBoy moment for me.

Chanda Kocchar is certainly a role model for many and my absolute favourite. Here I conclude with my favourite quote of hers

“I always believe that, as you start out, while you should have a big dream – a big goal – but it’s also important to move step by step. So, you know, frankly, if you ask me, when I started as a management trainee in 1984, I don’t know that I really thought that I would become the CEO.”
