Why is it important to reflect on your day ?
At the end of the year on the New Year's Eve, I would reflect on the year. I would think about my evolution, my changing thought process, my approach towards everything. The new year seems the prime time of the year to reflect and look back.
Now, reflection has become a habit. I was interning as a fellow with Yes Bank as a part of their Fellowship for 45 days in the month of April and May. I was the youngest in this coveted program. Initially, I had issues in terms of understanding the jargons and various concepts which I wasn't familiar with due to my humanities background.
I had to struggle and be updated with the training and understanding concepts. So I would come back after a long day and sit and evaluate. I would write down my doubts and research. It was full of learning however apart from that I would sit alone, keep my phone away and take a deep breath, close my eyes and reflect on my day.
I would try to understand things bothering me. I would try to figure out what made me happy today? What did I learn? What was the best part of the day? Reflecting on my day brought some clarity in my thoughts. It helped me to be calm and optimistic. Reflection has always helped me to count my blessings.
In my opinion, reflection has enabled me to practice gratitude. It has helped me to understand my thought process. We come across so much of content on Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp that our minds are messed up with different thoughts floating. In order to formulate an opinion or simply to stay calm, it is important to reflect.
It certainly helped me throughout my internship. I emerged confident because now I started understanding my Insecurities. It helped to eliminate stress and it presented me a space to grow and get ready for tomorrow's new bright new day.
Reflection has enabled me to start this blog, reflection has given me this topic to pen my thoughts and it has helped me to improve myself every day
.
I highly recommend that, if you haven’t yet, you develop the daily habit of reflection, in your own way. It could have profound changes in your life.
Lastly, let us remember the words of Socrates.
" The unexamined life is not worth living.”
Thankyou
